TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Florida’s gas tax holiday to reduce the price of gas by $0.25 per gallon began Saturday, Oct. 1, and will last through the rest of the month.

The gas tax holiday is part of the largest tax relief package in the state’s history, which lawmakers passed and the governor signed earlier this year.

“Our gas tax holiday went into effect on Saturday, which means Floridians will receive $0.25 off every gallon they purchase this month,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said.

The average price for gas per gallon in Florida is $3.22 and the national average is $3.77.

“This relief will help hardworking families across the state save money at the pump,” he said.

The tax relief package also included tax breaks for items including diapers, disaster supplies, tools for skilled trades and recreational activities.
