MARTHA’S VINEYARD (FLV) – Fox News’ Tucker Carlson’s thanked Gov. Ron DeSantis for giving Martha’s Vineyard “diversity” during his show Tucker Carlson Tonight.

“For hundreds of years, Martha’s Vineyard has suffered from the soul-crushing effects of its own whiteness. Island residents understood there was only one cure. They badly needed diversity,” said Carlson.

The Fox host says the city was a very “weak place.”

“As of yesterday morning, that island was 89% white, monochromatic and utterly homogenous – nearly everybody there was a rich Democrat. 80% voted for Joe Biden. The median home price was over a million dollars,” he continued.

Carlson said everything changed when the Sunshine State governor flew in migrants: “Relief finally arrived from an unlikely source yesterday: Governor Ron DeSantis.” DeSantis reportedly sent two planes of illegal immigrants to the Martha’s Vineyard Airport.

He said the message sent to President Joe Biden is that Florida is not a ‘sanctuary state.’

“We’re not a sanctuary state. We don’t have benefits or any of that. There are some sanctuary jurisdictions and that would be better,” DeSantis said. “Now what would be best is for Biden to do is damn job and secure the border.”

Carlson went on to say after landing, the group wandered about 3.5 miles into town, “thereby instantly improving it.”

“You can imagine the unrestrained jubilation on Martha’s Vineyard tonight – long suffering islanders finally rescued from their own oppressive whiteness – in fact, let’s go there now to check in on the celebration.”

Fox showed a live shot of the so-called “celebration.” Carlson jokingly continued, “Our producers are telling us there are no technical problems. Where were the weeping joyful crowds? […] Maybe it’s not so confusing. Maybe things aren’t as they seem.”

Christina Pushaw, Rapid Response Director for the DeSantis campaign, said, “Diversity is strength. They should thank Governor DeSantis for strengthening their community,” after reports that not all residents are thrilled about the latest arrivals.

Pushaw also says the funding for transporting illegal aliens to sanctuary jurisdictions was a highlight of the budget DeSantis signed months ago.

“Democrat legislators performing outrage today voted for it,” she said.

Florida Democrats slammed Gov. Ron DeSantis for flying migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, but either did not respond or dodged questions about their thoughts on how the Biden Administration has handled the surge of migrants traveling across the U.S. southern border.
